The Lightning Drunk Ch8: Remnants

Jok bandages up his wound that use to be most of his arm as Lin guides Victor and Jok out of the cave. She is looking around in a paranoid fashion the entire way.

"Okay it looks like we are clear, now then I need to show the both of you something."

"First we need to get Jok here to my buddy Reggie, he needs to fix him up."

"Oh trust me Victor, as good as Reggie is, he can't fix a lack of arm, but I think I can get someone who can." says Lin

"And another thing, how do you know our names." Asks the angry drunk.

Lin twirls on her heels and smiles at them before saying, "Because neither of you matter anymore."

Jok and Victor raise eyebrows at that statement. Lin realizes the way she put that, then tries to back track.

"That's not what I meant, what I mean to say is... you know what, any way I put this will sound weird. So I'll let my boss do it."

Lin twists the gem on top of her ring and a beam of light presents itself in front of her as a flat pink surface, she presses a few indicators on the surface then turns the whole thing toward the two awestruck companions... well at least Jok is awestruck.

The surface has a grey skinned man in a hat and cloak as well as two vertical white bars. The Lin says, "Play." And the bars are replaced with a sideways triangle. The man on the surface smiles and begins speaking.

"Hello there friends, I am the leader of the organization known as the Shadow Wardens, a group dedicated to fixing the world from behind the scenes. That said, we cannot do it alone. To address that, Our agents sometimes recruit beings like you, Remnants."

"You may have noticed that after some rather exciting, possibly world changing adventures you have come down with a string of boredom and nothingness, this is a time we refer to as the 'Campaign End' effectively fate wants nothing more to do with you. because of this you may have been attacked by a black ooze like creature, This is normal as the world is making sure you are not a variable."

"But we at the Shadow Wardens think that you may still be of use, and we are willing to compensate your efforts on two conditions. Firstly you will not ask questions about our organization, and second, you will listen to every order that your agent tells you. Do that and we can agree to almost any expense you require within reason."

"This is your chance to be a part of something great, Don't let us down."

With that the surface collapses back into the ring on Lin's hand. She lets out a smile and says,

"I can't explain much, but that video gives the brass tax, you guys can work for me and help me fix problems, then I give you whatever you want."

Victor says, "Gold"

Jok says, "My arm back"

Lin points to both in turn and says, "Done and done."

Victor Smiles, but Jok looks at her confused, saying "You can get me my arm."

"Sure, why wouldn't I? I just gotta get moving to our 4th member. He's a top notch Healer from a... let's just say very far away plane called an Investigator. They specialize in Alchemy and field combat, a perfect addition to our team."

Lin turns back around and looks to be fiddling with her ring.

"Since Jok doesn't look too good, I'll skip integration. I'm sure it'll be fine."

Before them a portal the same color as the surface appears, also sent out by the ring. Lin motions for them to hurry through.

Both of them shrug, with Jok immediately regretting that motion and gripping at his lost arm. Victor and Jok then proceed through the portal. Lin follows right after, the portal collapsing in once she isn't present to sustain it.

The three exit the portal and arrive in a room with a total mess spread across the entire room. Papers line the walls, ceilings, and floors, pinned there by someone. The papers look to be covered in notes and written in a manic dialect of elven.

While a half elf like Victor can make out the words, the crazed note style make following the thoughts on the paper difficult. Underneath all of the paper the room looks to be a formerly regal study for an elven wise man. Sitting at the end of the room is a frantically working High Elf.

The elf looks rather tall like his kind, with a full head of blonde medium length hair. He seems to be wearing a long green leather armored robe that is inscribed with elven symbols. To the side of his desk is a walking cane, a slung up dagger that is inscribed with lightning symbols and a composite longbow with a shield inscribed onto it.

The elf turns to see the group and smiles at them.

"While hello there, pleasant greetings, welcome to my study. If I may ask, What are you?"

Lin looks to be ready to answer, but Victor puts out his hand and says,  "What? Surly you mean who or why since we just barged into your study."

The Elf leaps up and zooms over to his three visitors along with a ink quill. He stares them up and down and furrows his brow as he says, "

"Never mind, We can make this a game, I'll guess the large one is simple, he's a minotaur. The lack of an arm is odd, but nothing I haven't seen before." he says referencing a small journal he swipes from a nearby table. he then turns his attention to Lin and Victor and is stopped.

"Well from the looks of you, I'd say a half-elf and a human... but no, there is more to it than that." He says with a large smile forming on his face. He goes closer to Victor and with the quill attempts to get a look at his covered up eye, saying,

"If I could get a better look at your eye good sir."

Victor's hand snatches the elf's hand and holds it inches away, charging it with a small burst of electricity.

"Try it and you're a dead man elf."

The elf suddenly leaps up and down excitedly and points at Victor, saying

"Of course, I've read about this, you are a sorcerer correct sir? Of the Draconic nature. Blue Dragon if I may be specific. That eye-patch hides your draconic eye! Likely a method to blend into crowds without attention gathering. Very interesting."

The elf pokes his quill into a very small pocket on his vest and begins frantically writing in his little note book. Jok leans down to Lin and asks, "Lin, this guy is a nut job?"

"The minotaur knows Common!? Astonishing!" Shouts the Elf taking more notes after flipping a few pages. Lin turns back to Jok and quietly says, "Well Jok, He's the man who can fix your arm, hopefully."

The elf turns back to Lin and says, "Now on to you... Very strange indeed. You look human, but your hair color is absolutely wrong. Vibrant Pink? No human has hair like that, and it doesn't have the very obscure faint smell of Dahlias like a typical hair dye would leave."

He thinks this over for a bit then Lin suddenly snaps her fingers and addresses the man.

"Well I'll tell you if you can help us out mister... Low-Rey? It think that was the name?"

"Lo're Knue madam, at your service, though I know elvish is tough on the tongue, so feel free to call me Lore. And very well I shall assist you if you tell me what you are."

"Fine, I'm a Changling."

The Elf laughs at this before turning back to her, "Are you daft, Changlings are nothing more than half hag offspring denoted by two different eye colors, and both of yours are maroon."

Lin breaths heavy then suddenly her skin begins to mold itself into something else, not only that but she grows and her hair and clothes form differently as well. She reforms into a perfect replica of Lore. Jok and Lore are taken aback by this, but Victor has seen enough at this point and just takes another drink.

"By the first sons of Iluvatiar! How did you do that without any magic!?"

The new Lore responds in Lin's voice, "Because my friend, where we are from Changlings are born from Dopplgangers, not hags. It's actually kind too complicated for me to explain fully, but can you help us now?"

"On one condition."

"But you said-!"

"I want to see this place you say you are from. It has gotten dreadfully dull here since I returned from the Underdark to study my drow cousins."

Lin reverts back to her old form and begins to fiddle with her ring, saying, "Actually my friend, I think I can explain that to you as well."

The Lightning Drunk Ch7: Stay Bored

Months have past since Victor went on  his massive tirade to marry off his eldest daughter. He and Jok have been out of work just kind of sitting around, with nothing new happening to them.

Jok looks over to Victor and says, "hey, you ever feel like the world just moved on without you? Like the stories of your adventures in reality only lasted like a couple weeks at most or something like that."

Victor stares back at Jok and says, "You been sippin my secret drinks?"

"You have secret drinks?"

Victor's eyes bulged in fear as he stands up and says, "You know what, we don't need a job, let's just head for a dungeon and see what we can loot."

"Think it will have anything worth while?"

Victor shrugs and just responds with "It's a dungeon."

Jok and Victor walk through the door way to see a few dozen dead bodies from the last few months.

"These guards ever gonna get cleaned, Vic?"

"Hey the bodies make the rest of the guards think twice, and dealing with them every day gets annoying. So why not keep'em around?"

"It's sorta your fault for blasting half the city."

"I see it as their fault for trying to take me in, they knew who I was, they should have had a brain."

Victor was leaning his head back but as he did he accidentally bummed into someone.

"Hey watch where your going!?" Shouted Victor looking at the person.

She looked to be around only a few years older than Lacey with bright pink hair and a charming face. her outfit looked to be some form of leather and cloak along with a various number of pockets, sheathes with knives, and other sorts of bits and bobs. She bows in response to Victor and in a light but frantic sounding voice she says,  "Oh Gods, I'm sorry I was..."

She trails off as she locks eyes on Jok.

Jok stares back at her confused as she just looks on wide eyed, Victor looks to both of them and smiles.

"You want a little bit of a bull boy in yer life lass?"

The girl suddenly blushes and Jok pats Victor for them to continue moving. As Jok moves he says, "Bit small for me, I'd break her in twain."

"Don't worry bud, We'll find someone for you one day, hopefully one without fungus."

Jok actually takes that remark in stride, he's gotten use to Victor speaking about his love life in that way.

"So Vic, where is this dungeon at?"

"Saw a cave back when we did that job hunting that run away Stone Golem."

Jok rolls his shoulder and winces, "I still have a crick in my joints from that bastard."

"Yeah, well in my experience a cave typically is full of some kind of some sort of ancient magic, sealed being that plans to end the world, or a goblin tribe."

"Hope it's not just goblins."

"Yeah' that'd boring."

Jok and Victor find their way back to a small trail made when a golem ran from his wizard. Toward the end of the trail there is a huge tree that has been broken at it's base. Jok stares at the busted tree with a dejected sigh. They both walk into the cave.

The cave did not seem to be full of goblins, but instead, Hobgoblins. Still not even a slight challenge for the two veteran Mercenaries. Victor dispatched them one at a time with a few Shocking Bolts. Meanwhile Jok was cutting down wave after wave of the goblinoids with his spectral arsenal.

Once the entire tribe lay dead, Victor begins going through what little gold they have, while Jok picks at the boar the tribe looked to be prepping for a feast.

"Well Vic, this was utterly boring."

"Hey don't be that way Jok, I think we made around 200 gold of these shits."

Jok rolls his eyes as he notices something off in the corner.

"Hey Vic, what about that door there?"

Victor and Jok look to a black obsidian door that looks to be a style entirely different from the rest of the cave. it looks like the black door depicts three beings with a grand cloak above them. the first is a black cloaked being who looks to wear grieves and gauntlets.

The second is a warrior clad in furs with a giant sword that looks able to split the skull of a dragon. The last being is a a rather well set flamboyant man with a bow slung over his back. The style the door is set looks to be rather foreboding.

Victor pats the sitting Jok on the shoulder and says, "Feel like looting it?"

Jok shrugs as Victor waltzes over to the door. He tries everything in his book of adventuring to try and open the door, to no avail. He pants and breaths heavy, exhausted from spending nearly 10 minutes trying to get the door open.

"Okay, you take a crack at it, I got nothing."

Jok stands and walks over to the door, and the door simply shifts and slides open. Victor's mouth opens looking at the door that opened up. Jok turns back to him and gives him a cocky smile, saying, "After you."

"Don't you think it is weird that you just opened the door without trying? Are you secretly the chosen one or some shit my big bull friend?"

"Nope, Just a simple Minotaur from another world."

"Well let's check it out then."

The two of them walk into an area that matches the decor of the door, the room is fully constructed of obsidian with depictions of some kind of bird like creatures doing small menial tasks much like that of hieroglyphics. The room had an ominous feel to it.

For any other group of heroes this would have scared them off or at least made them shiver, but Victor and Jok just wave the ominous atmosphere off. Toward the center of the room is a solid obsidian chest.

"You feel like trying to open this one too, Vic?"

"Why don't you try it first big guy."

Jok walks over to the chest and puts out his right hand to the top of the chest. He leans the top of the chest back, but as he looks down to peer inside a voice erupts from the doorway.

"JOK DON'T OPEN IT!"

Victor and Jok turn to see the woman from earlier today, she looks frantic.

Victor looks confused, "Huh?"

"RAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!" Shouts Jok. As he turned away from the chest a black spectral ooze stretches out of the chest and attached itself to his arm. Victor jumps to action to help the only person he would consider a friend, slamming the chest back closed, but the black ooze streches it's way along his arm.

The woman dashes forward and does a spiral flip over Jok's head flicking out a dagger.

"Dastardly Longsword!"

The woman's dagger suddenly extends and changes into a longsword and in a flick and a landing, Jok's arm getting covered in the ooze hits the ground. Panicking a little, Victor conjures up a lightning bolt and fries the arm and ooze where it lay.

The arm is cooked, but the ooze remains. The woman reaches into her bag and takes out a small odd looking ring. She points the gem on the ring at the arm and a pink light encases the ooze. Shortly thereafter the ooze melts away and off the arm.

The woman wipes her brow and looks over to Victor and Jok. Victor drinking a bit, and Jok waving through where his arm use to be. The woman looks at the missing arm and says she covers her moth.

"Um, don't worry, I think I can fix that."

Victor looks over absentmindedly as if only just now noticing that Jok's arm is gone.

"Huh, Reggie's got his work cut out for him. Oh by the way, almost forgot, not that big a deal but, WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!?" Shouts the man, bursting in sudden rage.

She looks shocked as her dagger reverts back into a dagger and she stows it into a sheath on her lower back before responding.

"My name is Lin, pleasure to meet you."

The Lightning Drunk Ch6: A Father's Anger

Victor, Jok, Scar, and Mana make their way back to the city to get their rewards for killing the assassin. Unfortunately they failed to rescue the rest of bards due to Victor ripping them apart for annoying him.

Scar keeps his eye on Victor the entire way back, but Jok doesn't seem to mind, Mana skips the whole way back much like a little girl would. After arriving back at the bard academy, Jok reports to the new headmaster that the rest of the bards were dead when they arrived, but that the assassin was killed.

The headmaster thanks them as Ezekiel comes out of a nearby building with another bard. He seems to be holding something behind his back. He freezes as he locks eyes with Victor, who notices his nervous energy.

"What you got there Zeke?"

"Nothing you should worry about Victor."

"Ah huh, sure."

Victor slowly walks over to the bard with Ezekiel cracking his neck. "Hey my friend, care to have a bit of a chat really quick?"

Remembering Victor's last encounter with a defenseless bard, Scar panics and shouts the only thing he can think of.

"Hey Victor! Are you a betting man?!"

Victor stops at the thought of earning a few extra gold. He takes a drink and says, "I'm in."

Scar smiles and asks if they may borrow the school's dining hall. Victor sits opposite Jok and Ezikiel as Scar comes back with 4 mugs.

"Alright Victor here's the bet, you seem like you can hold your drink, so it'll be the three of us versus you in a drinking contest. Last man standing wins, if you win we'll give you 50 gold a piece. If we win... you owe us a favor."

Victor smiles and nods. Scar turns to go get the bottle, but Victor shoots a Shocking Bolt in front of him to stop him, and Victor reaches into his bag.

"My flask never runs out, but a client of mine paid me in a special reward."

Victor slams a bottle onto the table, the inscription on it is dwarvish and the liquid inside is as dark as the void of death. The liquid sloshes around lighter than water, but no matter how spread out it gets it remains totally black.

"This is Dwarven Black Liquor. known to kill lesser men if they drink it without the constitution to handle it. Last I tried this I was out for hours. If we are gonna go, then lets make this interesting."

The 3 men sitting opposite Victor shiver as he drops a small amount into each mug, then lifts his to call for a toast. They all lift their mugs and clank them together before downing the liquid.

Ezekiel, Scar and Jok grab their necks as a intense burn assaults their throats. Victor smiles and says,

"You think that's bad, just wait for the kick."

Scar squints and stares at Victor, "What kiiiiiiiiiiiicuuuuuu." Scar falls back, out cold. In the same instant Ezekiel face plants onto the table. That left just Victor and Jok, staring each other down, both wobbling and almost falling onto the table.

The stare down felt like eons, even thought in truth it only lasted a few seconds. Jok's bull-like resilience helps him hold his ground long enough for Victor to face plant onto the table. Jok lets out a breath of victory, then reaches over and grabs a collar out of Ezekiel's bag.

The collar looks to have bardic notes glowing on it that would make the owner control the creature they place it upon. While lifting the collar out of the bag Jok falls backward and lands on his back. He manages to barely stand up and lock eyes on his target, falling with the collar first.

Hours pass, before Jok manages to come to first once he stands his eyes go wide. He did place the collar, but not on Victor, the collar looks to be wrapped around Ezekiel's neck. Jok bounds over to Scar's side and smacks him once or twice.

After going and getting some water and dousing it onto Scar's face, the psion is up and looking around.

"Jok!? What the hell man?"

"I fucked up Scar! The charm... look."

Scar leans up and sees the collar on Ezekiel's shoulders. He begins to panic and turns back to Jok.

"Can we take it off?"

"I don't think so, would you have wanted Victor to take it off?"

"Good point, well I guess for now we just need to think of another way to safely tell Victor about Lacey"

"What about Lacey?" Says a voice from over the table. Jok and Scar slowly turn to see Victor looking at the two of them. Jok stands up and looks that the drunk before saying,

"Ask Scar, I'm out."

"WHAT!?" Shouts Scar grabbing onto Jok's tail.

"Jok, you can't just leave me."

"I said I'm out, so I'm out, good luck, was nice knowing you." And with that Jok kicks Scar off of him and exits the building. Scar beings to get up, but as he does Victor is on him from behind and grips his head by one of his horns.

"Scar, I would like to know what happened to my baby girl, please."

Scar is forcibly turned around to Victor's face. Victor's hair is sparking and his visible eye is obscured by the sparking of pure electricity.

"Um well, do you remember that drow elf that you almost killed?"

Victor nods, and the sparks leap off his eye and zap Scar slightly.

"Well Lacey... That is the drow... um... I don't know how to."

"TALK!" Shouts Victor. For a moment Victor's voice sounds indistinguishable from a blue dragon's roar. Scar closes his eyes and utters a short prayer to any god who would listen.

"You're gonna be a grandfather." Says Scar with a scared smile.

A good quarter of the city was destroyed during the aftermath of Victor learning the truth, Scar and Ezekiel fled in terror as the bard's academy was reduced to a smoldering pile of ash. Scar and Ezekiel also both agreed that since the city was doomed they should leave, with or without Jok. The two were never seen in the city again.

Victor demolished everything in his path, men, women, children, cats, dogs, birds. Nothing was safe. He had an orb of pure electric energy around him, destroying everything near him as he walked toward Reggie's Apothecary where the drow healed.

Reggie could hear the destruction from his room and looked out the window. He nodded once and walked outside toward Victor.

"Hey Victor, how can I help you?

"The Drow!"

"Stay there, I don't need my building destroyed."

Reggie walks into the building and after a moment he comes back out with the drow, who sees Victor and starts trying to back peddle.

"You!!!"

Victor points at the boy and motions for him to come closer, scared for his life the drow shakily walks over to Victor.

"You got my daughter pregnant!"

The drow drops to his knees and begins begging, "I swear, I didn't think, I don't... Please I don't want to die, I'll do anything!" Tears are streaming down his face. Victor leans in, the orb inches from the drow, and Victor's face just at the edge. Bolts fly off hitting random civilians as Victor speaks.

"You will make her the happiest wife in the entire world, or else, I will find you, and you don't want that."

The Drow nods, unable to open his eyes from how bright the electricity is.

Later at the Railem household, Jok sits with Margret, learning the secrets that she holds, as Victor, no longer encased in power, barges into the house.

"LACEY! You got a Visitor!"

Lacey walks out of her room along with Jok and Margret right behind her and Lacey looks to see her boyfriend standing with Victor.

"Dei'Quan? What are you doing here with my father?"

"Never mind that, babe."

Victor's eye sparks.

"I mean Lacey. I need to tell you something."

Dei'Quan walks forward and takes a signet ring off his hand and kneels.

"Lacey, ever since I met you, I've been in love with you, so I was hoping that you'd... like to marry me?"

Lacey's eyes go wide and her hands shoot over her mouth as she nods and hugs Dei'Quan. Victor heads outside and comes back inside with a cleric from the temple of Socca. The cleric looks absolutly terrified and under his robs he was hiding some electric burns.

"Lets get this show on the road. Timmy! Get in here, you're best man! Jok, please put Margret down next to her sister, She's Maid of Honor."

Timmy runs to the room and Jok deposits the toddler by her sister. Lacey looks at her dad and says, "Right now!? but I don't have a...dress!?"

Victor opens a floor board and hoists out a wedding dress.

"This was you mother's, back when her figure still like woman's"

"I HEARD THAT!"

"DROP DEAD! Put it on honey, Jok would you mind being the ring bearer?"

"It would be an honor." Jok takes the ring as Dei'Quan produces another similar ring from his pocket. the ceremony is performed over the rest of the day and Lacey and Dei'Quan both take up residence in the house next door, after Victor gives the home owners a bit of persuasion.

The Lightning Drunk Ch5: Shadow Morph

Victor, Jok, and Scar form up with eyes at all corners of the room, not sure where the assassin has gone to. Before they can even begin to speak a plan Scar falls to the ground with a dagger in his chest. Jok forms a great axe and tries to slam it down on the figure holding the knife.

The figure leaps back avoiding the swing, but Victor points true with a Chromatic Orb and pelts a ball of electricity into the assassin's center of mass. The figure looks winded, but rather fine otherwise before he vanishes.

Scar holds a his wound and speaks, "This is bad, he's vanishing without magic. It must be from that ritual he did, I can't even find him from Detect Magic."

"So what's the plan?" Asks Jok twirling his weightless axe around. Victor takes a drink and smiles, saying, "I've got a spell for that, I planned to use it to make my wife into something less nauseating in the morning, but I'm gonna need a clear shot at him."

Scar lifts himself up and says, "That is the issue then, cause I have no clue where he is."

"I'm right here!" Says a figure planting his dagger right into Jok's forearm and twisting. Jok whirls around and pins the man to the ground, Scar points a Fire Bolt at the man's head. The man kicks into Jok's gut and more blood spurts out from a boot knife. Jok relents and the man has just enough time to wiggle out and vanish again.

Victor hoist Jok up from the ground and faces Scar, mad, "This is bullshit Scar. Just because he isn't using magic, doesn't mean he doesn't think! Find him."

Scar looks around panicking, " He must be out of the range, I can only read minds within 60 feet."

The group looks around the room, and it definitely is not 60 feet from wall to wall, closer to 30. Victor smacks Scar across the face and say, "Then where the fuck is he!?"

"Uh guys, I think I got something." Jok looks straight up toward the ceiling, too far away to see the top.

"The bastard is hiding up there then?" Asks Victor. Scar walks over and says, " So Victor, you think this spell of yours will take him down?"

"That, or get us killed." Says Victor with a drink.

"Lovely." Says Jok with a straight face. Victor looks over to Scar and asks, "Do you have anything to make sure that he can't resist my magic?"

"I could Hex him."

"That'll do, Jok, I need to be close to him, so once Scar hexes him, throw me, if this works, I guarantee we will be able to find him."

Jok nods and the group waits quietly, with Victor chugging away at his Drink. Right as Victor corks his Drink the Assassin is on him, but his blade stops in the air with a shimmer of magic.

"Shield bitch! Now Scar!"

Scar hexes the assassin and the assassin fades away again after the failed attack. Scar immediately pops up Detect Magic to follow the aura of his own Hex, he shouts, "Jok there!" and points to the north west corner.

Jok hurls Victor as hard as he can, rocketing the drunk into the air, in flight Victor snaps his fingers and says, "Quickened Shocking Bolt" and a sizzle of power fires from Victor's side to the corner of the room, the magic hits something, and the assassin appears in pain. Victor smiles, and forms a large amount of magical energy in his other hand.

"POLYMORPH!"

There is silence as Victor crashes into the ground then quickly scurries away as if his life were in danger. Right behind him, nearly crushing him is a woolly mammoth that cracks the ground on impact. Victor rises and smiles before saying, "There! Try hiding now!"

"A MAMMOTH!" Shouts Scar, "Why is he a mammoth!?"

"So he can't hide." Says Victor hoisting his flask for a congratulatory swig.

Jok looks to Victor and says. "Why not like a harmless mouse or rabbit or something?"

Victor incredulously looks at Jok and waltzes over to him pointing at the Minotaur. "Excuse me, are you the mage here!? No, your the ghost sword bull guy."

As Scar tries to break them up the mammoth begins to charge. Victor leaps to the side, but Jok tries to hold back the beast to halt it's charge. The mammoth is halted in it's tracks, but it then lifts the minotaur off the ground and slams him into the ground.

If Jok wasn't hurt by that, he sure as hell was hurt from the next attack, as the mammoth turns around an proceeds to sit on the minotaur.

"GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Shouted Jok, in excruciating pain with his entire lower half restrained by the weight of the former assassin. "Guys you need to get him off of me, like right now!"

Victor and Scar look to each other and shrug, both charging up their most powerfull spells.

"TWIN LIGHTNING BOLT!"

"FIREBALL!"

Then in a mass of Lightning and Fire the mammoth is utterly obliterated and the effects of the Polymorph disappear, leaving Jok just barely out of the range of the center of the blast.

Scar runs over and begins to tend to Jok as Victor goes over to look at the body of the assassin. He finds that the man only has a black robe and his menacing dagger Victor flips the dagger around a few times in his hand, liking the feel of it.

The robe on the other hand is also rather nice, very thick, and looks to hold a bit of magic in it. Victor isn't a coward like the man who wore it last, so he takes off his own rob and puts this one on underneath as a layer under his main robe.

The one he took is thin enough to not hamper his movement , and the magic seems strong enough to ward off attacks that should come at Victor. Scar and Jok wander back over as Scar looks at the dagger with a bit of Detect Magic.

"Whoa, Victor, I'd be careful with that, That dagger looks covered in Necromancy. It might be cursed."

Victor Twirls the dagger in hand and says, "Cursed? How curse?"

"I don't know, You'd have to stab something." Victor looks around and notices the bards at the doorway. "He guys, come here, I need to ask y'all something."

The bards walk inside the room and stand waiting for Victor to respond.

"I gotta ask, why didn't any of you hit that man with a Viscous Mockery or two?" Asks the drunk.

"Well, um we don't know that spell." Says one of the bards.

Victor's face goes narrow, as he says, "Scar, take Jok over to the next room I think I found something to test my dagger on."

Out of fear, Scar takes Jok into the hallway and shuts the door, he then shortly hears a blood curdling scream as Victor's voice resonates out of the ritual room.

"Huh!? Scar, Looks like the dagger takes a bit of my blood to make the attack a lot more effective, I feel faint, but the results are staggering."

"BEN!!! NO!!"

"SHUT UP YOU!!!"

The following noises that came from the room are splashes of lightning, bludgeoning, and screams of agony. Jok looks not very phased, but Scar looks to shiver and shake with every horrible noise. After a minute or two Victor waltzes out of the room, the ends of his robe's sleeves covered in blood.

"Uh, Victor, what about the reward for saving the bards?"

Victor turns to Scar and says, "And if we find any bards, as in the kind who know bard spells and abilities, we will save them." Victor points over his shoulder toward the room. "As far as I'm concerned those are not bards."

The Lightning Drunk Ch4: Weird, Weird, Weird

Jok and Scar finish explaining the situation to Ezekiel as Victor lay unmoving. Ezekiel then reports his progress visiting the local churches looking for one of Bahamut. He also looked around town for any work that seemed available and a local guild of bards caught his interest.

"They say that their head master was assassinated and the assassin is hiding out to the north." Says Ezekiel. Jok is the one who responds back.

"That's great, but first do you think you could seal Victor like I was by that dead bard?"

"Its not that easy, Victor's power isn't divine in nature, I'm afraid I can't do anything to seal his magic." Scar pauses then jumps in.

"Wait, What if instead of sealing him, we charm him, like what a bard could do? You think if we get this assassin they could pay us in a charm spell?"

At the sound of the word 'Pay' Victor is up and on Jok's back, saying, "I need 50% upfront, no fake coins, travel expenses are extra."

Jok leaps up from the table and whips Victor off his back in shock. Victor flips once in the air and lands before taking a bit of a drink and waltzing back over.

"How much of that did you hear, Victor?" Asks Scar, worried.

"Bards, assassin, and pay, that's about all I need lets go."

Ezekiel shrugs and says, "Works for me. Let's go to the Bardic Academy." The group stands and begins walking, Scar uses a bit of his mental abilities to talk over the plan with the others.

"So I think that the bards would be willing to charm Victor so he takes his daughter's pregnancy well." Projects Scar

"Hopefully, I've actually come to like him in just the day we've spent together. Would be a shame to have to kill him." Thinks back Jok.

"If you ask me, he's a ticking time bomb. I told you I wanted to see if this town had a temple to Bahamut then leave, instead, we're stuck watching this man child." Responds Ezekiel.

"A man child who laid you out flat with a bit of magic." Jokes Jok.

"Oh burn, and it wasn't even from me." Says Scar out of his mouth, prompting Victor to turn to him. the group stops staring at Victor stare at Scar. Victor takes a large swig of his Drink and responds.

"Yeah Zap, just like I do." Says Victor, feigning understanding a joke he thinks he heard. They all arrive at the Bard's Academy the new head master. Ezekiel steps forward to speak with him.

"Evening, We are here to help hunt down your master's killer, can you give us an idea of where he is?"

"Yes, he seems to have a stronghold north of the city. I sent some of our own to scout the area out, but none have returned, if you can retrieve my other bard apprentices then I'll pay you double."

Ezekiel shakes the man's hand and turns back to the others, Victor looks to be walking toward a direction. Jok shouts to him, "Victor, I know you are excited, but that is south."

"I know, but for some reason I don't recall getting Lacey home, so I'm gonna go check and make sure she is alright."

"NO!" Shouts Scar, prompting Victor to turn suspiciously.

"You shouldn't... Because she had a really long day at school, and needed... to take a nap." Victor smiles and begins walking north as he says, "She really is a little over achiever, well let's get moving . That shit should be dead by sun up."

Scar leans in to speak with Ezekiel privately, "We should be able to cover this, make sure they have the charm before we get back." Ezekiel nods and Scar, Jok and Victor take off toward the Assassin's hideout.

Victor flies into the sky and gets a good view of the surrounding area, eventually spotting an old ruin about 20 miles north of the town, he lands back with his group and notices the little girl Mana has returned. Victor starts leading them to the hideout while speaking.

"Hey Scar, that girl there hasn't spoken once since I met you, she special or somefin?"

"Oh very special, this is Mana, and me and her are connected, you see..." Scar begins going through a tale about how he, Jok, and Mana are from a different world, and that Mana is actually his Psi-crystal given the form of a little girl in this world to blend in. Victor, truly couldn't care less, he just checking to see if she was weird like many things in his life.

"So different world huh? Same here." Jok and Scar look at him shocked. Victor takes a drink and begins explaining, "I told ya I'm from Harlasator right? Well That ain't here, There is normal, but here I fit in, how long you been in this world mate?"

Jok chimes in. "Like maybe a week, and so far we lost two friends to ghost pirates, a third to a nest of Rocs, killed a dwarven king giant, and got changed into humans, met an Deva then back to our old forms, then we met Ezekiel, and you. Pretty sure we also teamed up with a Dark Lord for a bit there."

"Sounds about right, this plane is some sort of limbo of weirdness and chaos, hence why ghosts get to set up in town, and why I ain't in some prison cell for being me. Sorry about your friends, but don't worry, when people die I'm pretty sure they go back to the material plane."

"So does anything here hold consequences?" Scar asks and Victor twirls at that question.

"What if it didn't? What would you do?" Scar thinks for a moment then responds, "Without consequence, I suppose I'd do anything I wanted."

Victor touches his nose twice while saying, "Ding-ding, and there you have it." *Gulg* *gulg*

Finally the group arrives in the hide out and Scar begins thinking out a plan as they stand before the giant stone doors that stand in their way. Jok pushes the massive doors open then turns back and Victor slowly walks up to the doors and shouts.

"OI YA CLOAK AND DAGGER FUCK. GIVE BACK THE BARDS AND  WE'LL MAKE SURE YOU DIE QUICK!"

Moments pass and Scar shakes his head and says, "What made you think that they would-"

He is interrupted by a scraggly voice shouting back, "FUCK YOU!"

Victor walks back over to Jok and pats him on the shoulder, "Time to dine then, Jok lets kill use a shadow man."

"Kay then." Jok and Victor waltz into the darkness as Scar hangs his head behind them. he suddenly remembers Mana and turns to her saying, " Mana watch the door, if the assassin comes through here you know what to do." Mana nods and Scar rejoins the others.

The dungeon was dark and foreboding, and as the group searched deeper in they found a living area with papers that had people with cross outs over their faces. Victor recognized some of them as people from town who turned up dead.

"What's that noise?" Asked Scar hearing struggling and muffled screaming from a nearby door. they opened the door to see half a dozen bards tied up and gagged. Jok formed a dagger out of the air and undoes their bonds. Some of the bards looked hurt and one of them comes forward.

"Thank the gods you are here, we're hurt, can any of you heal us?"

Scar shakes his head, but Victor pushes him aside.

"Wait a moment, are you telling me that you guys are bards who don't know how to heal?"

"Yeah, none of us know the spell." Victor holds the bridge of his nose and says, "Dear sweet Socca you guys are the worst bards I've ever met, keep safe and stay down, we need to take care of the guy who kidnapped you."

The group walked down the living space toward another hallway before coming to a large doorway and entering a huge dark room with precisely 17 phylacteries of blood set up in a giant star shaped glyph. Sitting in the middle of the glyph is a man kneeling with skin as black as night, very clearly not human.

"Welcome fools, to your death. For you see I have finally killed and stolen the blood of the great ancestors of the shadow killers, and so with their blood mixed in with the essence of the fade-" *CRACK*

Victor had punched the man clear in the face while Jok, Scar, and the bards stared on at them. Victor proceeds to kick the man on the ground. The man defends himself saying, "Damnit! Will you just. For the love of. I'm trying to scare you!"

"Can't you see? I'm terrified." Says the straight-faced Victor as he lifts the man by the head and punches him in the gut. Finally the man kicks off Victor and flips landing on all fours. He brandishes a slender thin dagger with the same glyph on it and he speaks.

"Fine then, I'll show you why children are scared of the dark." And the man disappears where he stood, and the room grows cold.

The Lightning Drunk Ch3: Time to Meet the Father

Victor and his three new friends decided to get to know each other before working together. Victor looked to the sun and realized that it was already midday.

"Well it looks like my daughter should be done at the academy by now, want to come along with me and bring her home?" Jok and Scar both shrugged and nodded, but Ezekiel shook his head.

"I didn't join you all to be a babysitter, no thanks." With that Ezekiel left the apothecary after thanking Reginald. While walking Scar regards Victor, "So you've been here for 15 years you say?"

"Yup, me and the misses moved here from the kingdom of Harlasator when I was only 19. At the time I was a Sailor, but the Sea water makes my wife rash out like you wouldn't believe. Boy that was an unpleasant voyage."

"Sounds like it, so what does your daughter look like?" Asked Jok.

Victor swigs some of his Drink half way through the question. then he turns to his friends and says, "Oh she's great, shes still got some of her baby chub, and she's got a little black hair like I do, and her eyes are-"

"Baby chub? You said she was a teenager." Remarks Scar.

"Huh? Oh yeah, I do have two of them. Okay well Lacey is kinda skinny, and also has black hair, she doesn't got my talent for magic, but she's somewhere around yay high." Says Victor as he raises a hand that refuses to stay steady and give an accurate idea of height.

Scar looks forward and then points.

"That one there has black hair is that her?"

Victor stares ahead and sees that the girl he is pointing out is indeed Lacey.

"Yup, that's my girl."

Jok looks back to Victor and says,"Alright then, lets go and... wait, who's that with her?"

Victor looks back to his daughter again and sees a boy hugging her, a Drow Elf, who has his white hair shaved with some sort of foreign symbols in his hairline and baggy clothing on.

Victor stops solid, staring at the man,"I do not know who that is, boys if you don't mind, I would like to meet this man."

Victor shoves the 500 lb minotaur aside with just one of his arms and strolls over to the two teenagers.

"This is bad." Says Scar.

"Lets try not to make a scene. If Victor makes a move then we interfere." Responds Jok. Scar nods to the large bull man.

Victor walks up to the two and the drow notices him first.

"Hey yo pops, you got a problem?!" Upon hearing the boy address Victor, Lacey turns and sees her father. Her face goes pale as a ghost.

"Oh, pops ey? Ironic name. And tell me good sir what is your name?" Says Victor, pushing Lacey aside.

"My names Dei'Quan Toren, and I was just haven a chat with mah girl Laces."

"Laces! Ey!" Victor smiles and turns to Lacey,"Doesn't sound much like the name your parents gave you, but hey there are all sorts in the world."

Lacey finally interjects, "Uh Dei'Quan-"

"Hush up Laces, I'm talkin here." Responds Dei'Quan.

Victor's hand behind his back suddenly pulses with power upon hearing his precious daughter get cut off.

"Not very nice. Cutting off you friend like that." Says Victor motioning his head to Lacey. That poor Drow in that moment did the exact wrong thing to do in that moment.

Dei'Quan wrapped his arm around Lacey who blushes a bit with her eyes wide, uttering a short prayer to Socca.

"Well I'd say we are a bit more than just friends at this point, ya feel me?" Ending with a cocky smile.

Scar who had been reading the situation patted Jok on the shoulder and said,

"Go! Go! Go now or that boy is a dead man!"

Victor offers out his hand and smiles saying,"I don't believe I introduced myself..."

Dei'Quan questioningly reaches out and shakes Victor's hand.

"My name is Victor Railem, Lacey's Father."

If Dei'Quan's face could have shifted away from it's black color, it would have turned white. His next thought was to spin and run as fast as he could, but unfortunately for him he had already fallen into Victor's trap.

"SHOCKING GRASP!!!"

In a brilliant display to behold the boy was suddenly abuzz with power. Sparks went flying, jolts shot across his body, and lightning shot out of his head. To this day Victor has never shocked someone with shocking grasp harder than that, and if he had finished that attack the boy surely would have died.

Fortunately for Dei'Quan, Jok bashed Victor on the back of his head before death came for the young drow. Then both the boyfriend and the father fell to the ground.

In the aftermath Scar congratulated Jok on his quick action in saving the boy's life. Jok then retrieved Victor and hoisted him onto his shoulder. Then the 4 of them, Lacey, Scar, Victor, and Jok made their way to Victor's house led by Lacey.

"Well young lady, we must be going. Us and your father should take a trip to the Apothecary, make sure he's okay." Said Scar, patting Victor on his new bump on the head.

"Um, if it wouldn't be too much trouble can you tell him something else too?" Said Lacey a little bit nervous.

"Sure. What is it?" Responded Jok.

"Well, um, you see... Um... me and Dei'Quan.. well." Lacey stumbles around her word , prompting Scar to read her mind and get to the meat of the issue, he then blurted out,

"OH MY GODS, YOU'RE PREGNANT!?!?!" Shouted Scar, and in response Jok jumps back and drops Victor face first onto the pavement. Jok picks Victor up again and says,

"She's What!? But how do you kno-"

"I used the spare gold I make apprenticing with Reginald the Apothecary to get a Divination at the temple when I started getting morning sickness. It's a boy, by the way."

Scar face palms and wipes his head as Jok looks at the unconscious Victor.

"Congrats new Friend your going to be a grandfather."

"So yeah, good luck telling dad." With that Lacey slams the door, and Jok and Scar are left with the unconscious Victor.

"What do you think the over/under on him destroying the city is?" Asks Jok.

"From what We've seen he already does that by just living here." Says Scar. Both think for a few seconds, then Jok snaps his fingers.

"Remember how we first met, Scar?"

"Um you were enslaved by a Bard who ended up dying after you both joined us."

"Yeah, I joined him because the wards on my collar bound me to serve the one who freed me from my seal. If we get someone to Ward Victor then-"

"The city wont get destroyed! Where's Ezekiel? He's a former paladin!"

Scar runs off, but just as Jok starts to follow he notices someone near Victor's house. He spots  Victor's other daughter, Margret playing in the yard, being watched by Victor's son, Tim.

Jok didn't know why, but he was draw over to the yard, and the little girl looked up at him, unafraid like the many other children so often did.

"Hello, who are you?" Said the girl in a cutesy little voice.

"My uh.. My name is Jok, I work with your papa here. " Said Jok as he motions to Victor.

"Is daddy sleeping?" Says the girl turning her head and looking back at Tim, who has preoccupied himself with forming his lightning in his hand.

"Yeah, he had to take a nap for a bit, my friend and I need to go wake him up."

"Oh daddy doesn't like it when I wake him up. hehe"

"How do you wake him up? He may be a bit of a maniac, but the way he talks about you kids he seems to really care."

"Do you want me to do it to you?" Says Margret as she stands up off the ground.

"Do what?"

"Wake you up." Says the girl as she offers her hand. Jok looks at her hesitantly, then looks back to Scar, making sure that he is out of range to read either of their minds. Once he is sure, Jok touches the girl's hand.

Suddenly Jok is gone, seeing the world, the entire world. He sees men grow, and expand across the world then he sees the gods die, just as man has reached the point of their apex, the others come, the gods that came before, the old gods, they burn the world, and man. Then their eyes turn backwards to face Jok, and in an instant he has let go of Margret's hand and her eyes are right where he saw the eyes of the others.

Scar is running to find Ezekiel, when Jok finally catches up with Victor slung over his shoulder.

"Where were you man?" Asks Scar.

"I found a teacher." States Jok plainly.

The Lightning Drunk Ch2: Some New Barmates

The three adventurers address the scared woman, each of them veterans from out of town hearing her plea about her house being invaded.

The smallest man is a Tiefling Psion trained in the generation of fire along with a small girl in a dress at his side. The man is named Scar and the girl is named Mana.

The angriest looking member of the three is a Orc fallen Paladin named Ezekiel who had long turned his back on his god, Bahamut due to his rage and violent tendencies.

The Last is most definitely the largest of them and is a full grown Minotaur named Jok who has access to an ancient form of magic lost to the history books in which involves summoning weapons out of the aether and forming them out of thin air.

"And so you see I was hoping you three would be able to clear them out of my house." Says the woman.

Ezekiel crosses his arms and says," Seems like a waste of time to me, their just a couple of home invaders."

"True, but what else were we doing today?" Says Scar shrugging as Mana nods.

"True, and she says she'll pay us, I say we give it a go." Shrugs Jok in response.

"Oh thank you thank you, you all are ever so-!"

"HIT THE DECK!!!" Shouts Scar as he leaps aside pushing Mana. As he does a Lightning Bolt spell streaks across the street surface. Upon impact Jok is fried, but standing and Ezekiel manages to raise his shield in time to protect himself by instinct. It doesn't do much considering the nature of the attack. The woman dissipates as the bolt hits her, but the three adventures pay it no mind.

"What was that!? Shouts Jok.

"I'll look! Detect Magic!" Says Scar scanning the area and Mana disappears into the streets while slowly Jok and Ezekiel approach the building. As they march Jok summons a giant single edged buster sword that he hoists onto his shoulder and Ezekiel takes out his mace and shield.

Scar scans left to right, unable to find his target, when he suddenly catches something out of the corner of his eye.

"He's flyi-!" Before Scar can finish, his face is suddenly impacted by the flying man's head right into the bridge of his nose. Scar falls to the ground unconscious. The flying man rises and it is the drunk sorcerer, Victor Railem.

"Who's *belch* next?" Shouts the drunk man.

Ezekiel charges in and Victor takes a swig of his Drink, and just as Victor tries to leap out of the way of Ezekiel's swing he trips up on Scar's downed body and gets hit square in his jaw, flinging him back about thirty feet before he falls to the ground from the Fly spell wearing off.

"Check Scar, I'll finish this bastard!" Shouts Ezekiel.

The two move into position, Jok checking Scar for a pulse and Ezekiel two-handing his mace to crush Victor's skull, but at the last moment Victor's eyes spring open and he grabs Ezekiel's metal boot and casts Shocking Grasp blasting Ezekiel with a torrent of magical lightning.

Ezekiel falls as Victor rises up to hear the sound of a spell, "Fireball!" Victor looks up to see a now conscious Scar being supported by Jok.

"This is gonna hurt." Says Victor as the ball of flame and death makes it way over to him.

In a giant fiery explosion Victor and the half conscious Ezekiel go up in flames. When the flames clear Victor is still standing and seems to be drinking from his Drink, gulping down copious amounts of alcohol.

"Do you surren-!" Victor raises his finger as to say, that Jok should hold that thought. After 10 seconds straight of pouring more and more liquor down his throat, Victor takes his mouth off and gasps for air, then falls to his knees, looking like he's about to pass out. Victor seems to use the last of his might to raise his arms to the sky.

"TWIN!!" Shouts victor as he points just above his head and forms two magical balls of energy.

"Uh oh," Says both Jok and Scar looking at the balls.

"LIGHTNING BOLT!!!!"Shouts Victor as he falls to the ground pointing at the two of them. Then two streaks of Lightning fly and crash into the two men and they both fall to the ground, both unconscious.

Victor woke later in the Apothecary.  He looked left and right before seeing the head Alchemist, Reginald.

"Hey Reggy, what's new?" Said Victor, somehow still in a drunken stupor.

"Hey Vic, nothing much, just these 3." Says Reginald pointing at Victor's three adversaries from earlier. They all look to be fine, just as Victor does. Victor looks at them shocked that they are still there.

"Funny, could swore that they were ghosts?"

"Ghosts?"

Victor turns to Reginald and says, "Yeah, I got a job from a girl who turns out was a ghost trying to trick me. Then I saw these blokes talking with the she-ghost and figured she was calling for back up."

"Did you think that maybe, she was tricking them too?"

Victor stops for a second, then wonders, then wonders some more, then takes a swig of his Drink, then it comes to him.

"Reggy! I think she was tricking them too!"

Reginald shakes his head looking over the injuries on the other three and says, "What a paragon of insight you are Victor, either way, these three look to be the new mercenary band who came to town a few days back."

"I was just talking to myself about meetin with them! I could use some more gold to throw around."

"In that case I'll leave you to it."

Reginald collects his papers and leaves the room, somehow confident that Victor won't destroy the entire building. Victor wanders over to the unconscious Jok and preps a small jolt of lightning. He wakes Jok up in an instant with the jolt and sits in a chair on the other side of the room as Jok panics awake looking in all directions.

"WHAT!? WHEN!? WHERE!?" shouts Jok, instinctively summoning his buster sword.

"Hold up a minute my horny friend, you're safe here." Says Victor raising his hands to calm him. Jok points his blade at Victor and responds .

"Bullshit, you're here, and just cause you knocked me out doesn't mean I don't remember faces!"

Victor takes a large swig of his drink then puts his hands back into position.

"You're like 70% safe here, but before you go and break Reggie's house, mind if I explain myself?"

"You have 10 seconds."

"I only need 5, ask my wife." Jok furrows his brow for a second before Victor continues.

"That woman you spoke to was dead, well not dead-dead, but undead."

"Like a Zombie?"

"Nah more like a ghost, common occurrence, truly, she had tricked me and unfortunately for her I don't like being tricked, no matter how often it happens. And so I needed to get her back, unfortunately all y'alls was in the way."

"Alright, say I believe you, why shouldn't I kill you where you stand?"

"Because first off, I'm sitting, and second, from the looks of you all, you are a band of adventures who are new to town, are you staying long?"

"Long as we need to." Victor claps his hands, stands and leans in on the buster sword.

"Well I've been living here for around 15 years now, and I've done jobs all over this city, no one knows it like me, I could help you out. Plus I happen to be one of the strongest mages in this kingdom, as I'm sure you learned first hand."

"We already have a mage. Scar over there is a gifted Psion." Says Jok.

Victor waves away Jok's response, saying, "Ppppptb, Psion!? They couldn't blast their way out of a goblin knapsack, I worked with one back in the day and before we went on a job then that happen to him." Victor points over to an unconscious man 5 beds over.

"Still alive, but he's been out for a year now."

"What happened?"

"Tried to read the mind of my youngest, bad move. So what do you say?"

Jok thumbs his chin for a bit then his sword disappears.

"Very well being the only heavy hitter on the team was getting old, what should we call you friend?"

Victor offers his hand to the Minotaur and says, "Victor Railem, at your service."

The Lightning Drunk Ch1: The Smashed and the Shadows

"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT!?" Shouts a shrill woman from behind a closed door.

"THAT'S ALL THEY'D PAY ME, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN GET YOUR OWN JOB!!" Shouts a rough sounding man from behind the same door.

"YOU KNOW I'M THE HOME MAKER HERE IN THIS FAMILY!"

The door shoots open and a man in a black and blue clouded outfit and an eye patch exits yelling back at someone stemming the other room.

"BULLSHIT YOU MADE THIS HOME, I DIDN'T PAY THEM GOLIATHS TO TWIDDLE WITH DAISIES DID I!?" *slam*

The man known as Victor Railem walks through his modest house over to a small bedroom, he opens the door into a little bedroom where he sees two girls. One looks to be a teenager who is at a desk writing a letter and the other is but a toddler who reading a book about the size that she is. Victor  squats down by the toddler.

"Hey Maggy, how's daddy's little Punkin?"

"I'm fine daddy." Responds Margret with a much more refined dialect than a 2 year old should have.

"The Old one still telling you how to live your life?"

"Of course. Cthulhu's revival is close at hand." Says the girl with a big grin as she faces her father.

Victor straightens up and says, "Catutu? I was talking about your mother. Well either way sweet pea be good while daddy is gone, okay?"

"Yes, daddy." Says Margret.

Victor waltzes over to the girl at the desk and leans in.

"Workin on your apprenticeship baby girl?"

The girl drops her quill and turns in the chair. and in a defiant tone says, "I'm 15 dad I'm no baby anymore!"

"To your elf side you are! And besides that, you'll always be my baby. Now dad's goin to go find some work."

As Victor exits the room, the older girl, named Lacey says under her breath," You mean going to the bar, you drunk."

"Oi you know that's how daddy keeps this house up, so don't sass me!" Shouts Victor as he shuts the door.

Victor exits the house to see his back yard, he looks confused for a second, but keeps walking.

"This don't look right, could a swore that-" Victor is suddenly cut off by a knife that plants itself in his shoulder.

"DAD!?" Shouts a young boy's voice from one side of the yard.

"Huh? Tim? Zat you?"

a young boy rushes up to his father, and he seems to be a carbon copy of the drunk man at the age of 11.

"Are you okay dad? You took a knife to the arm!"

"I did?" Victor looks at his shoulder with a knife in it. "So I did. This yours Timmy? Thought magic was your style. Like your old man." Says Victor as he nonchalantly takes the knife out and hands it to his son.

"Well yeah, but I thought that if I put Shocking Grasp into a metal thing I could hit them from far away with it." Victor rustles Tim's hair. and responds.

"Silly Tim, there's another spell for that, but it's only used by some mages. Most never learn it."

"Can you show me?"

"Maybe once I get back. I don't really remember it that well, but I'll put in some practice on my job to re-learn it, kay tim-tim?"

"Got it dad."

Victor walks off, taking a swig of his Drink as he walks. While he walks the people around look to him, and some look in fear while others point to him, but Victor is so drunk that he doesn't have the ability to give it any mind.

Eventually Victor gets to a bar and kicks in a door. everyone stops and stares at him from their spots at their tables. Victor takes a full ten seconds to drink from his Drink before looking back to the patrons.

"Ya'll looking for a jump ya bastards!?" With that the bar returns to it's standard routine. Victor clumsily wanders up to the bar and falls onto a stool before addressing the barkeep.

"Hey Victor, what do you want?" Says the barkeep.

"I'm looking for a job nameless generic barkeep who neglected to ever give his name."

"For good reason! Last time you showed up looking for work you did that!" The barkeep slams the table and points to the floor which has a slapdash patch job  that stretches about 10 ft wide.

"You said you had rats." Says Victor with a shrug.

"Fuck you!" Yells the barkeep as Victor takes another swig of his drink and continues to drink for all of what the Barkeep has to say.

"You roll into town last week, kill most of my customers, destroy all of my stock, scare my wife, and never even buy a single drink! You just sit here and expect me to give you work when all you do is cause me trouble! Well Victor, Let me tell you something! I-"

The Barkeep is interrupted as Victor grabs the man by the face shouts, "Shocking Grasp!"

The barkeep's body suddenly convulses and sparks of lightning can be seen shooting out of it. Victor waves off a bit of spit from his hand as he turns back to the patrons, he then points back over the bar and says, "Don't worry, he'll live. Drinks are on me by the way."

Some of the seedier patrons start hopping the bar and helping themselves to the drinks, but one follows Victor out of the bar.

"Now I gotta find a new way to find work I guess, gotta make money somehow. Maybe those newcomers to town the one's with that minotaur? They seem okay... huh?"

Victor looks to see a woman tugging at his arm. She looks ragged, like she hasn't taken care of herself for days. After seeing her Victor stares off into space for a second.

"Are you okay sir?" Says the woman.

"Yeah its nothing, just remembering my honeymoon, can I help you?

"Yeah, you're a wizard right?"

Victor twirls pointing back to himself and saying, "Please, I'm not one of those hoity toity book bitches, I'm a sorcerer." Victor raises his thumb and finger to spark a bit of lightning. "All I need is my fingertips to call upon the elements... that."

Victor takes a swig and wipes his mouth, "And a bit of help from my good friend. Either way, do you require my services?"

"Yes, I'd like you to help clear my house of some invaders."

"What house?"

The woman points to a house about 100ft away.

"That one, but-"

"Got it." Victor begins to walk to the house.

"But-!" Victor waves her off.

"Don't worry, I'll try not to destroy your house."

The woman stands there, worried then looks around for anyone to tell her what just happened, as if she is being pranked. Victor enters the house and takes another swig of his Drink, then suddenly smiles.

"Cold!? Sweet, I may need trade houses with this girl."

Victor begins looking around the house to see how many rooms there are as some beings composed of translucent darkness begin to form behind him

"Tim can take this room, then my girls can have this one... I don't think this frame is big enough for my wife to fit, but if I just... Huh?" Victor turns to see 8 Shadows staring right at him, who just looks at them straight-faced.

"Yooooou have cooooome." Says one of the Shadows as it floats up to Victor hiccups.

"Ooone seeent by heeer. And Nooow-"

Victor mockingly raises his arms and waves them, "You shall eeeat my sooooul. Right? Am I far off?"

The shadow waves closer to Victor who continues, "Let me guess, she played with a Ouija board, sacrificed a goat? Did she make this house on your graves?"

One of the Shadows flies in looking to attack and Victor deftly side steps away from the strike.

"I'll go with the graves, either way are we starting? Okay then. What was that spell again?"

Another 2 shadows try and grab at Victor, but he jumps back as each of them phase into the ground.

"It was like shocking grasp, I remember, but like, not, or something, wait I got it!"

Victor points at one of the stray Shadows and says, "Shocking Bolt!"

Suddenly a bolt of lightning fires out of  Victor's hand and destroys the Shadow in a flash of electricity. One of the shadows recoils and shouts, "Wiiiiizard!?"

Victor's eye goes hollow, blue and white like that of a legendary blue dragon and he says, "You wish I was a Wizard. TWIN SPELL!"

The left over electric energy from the dead shadow suddenly leaps and latches itself onto another shadow, and Victors continues to shout over and over the phrase twin spell, making the lightning leap to the next shadow until the last one is left and manages to hold itself together.

"Wait! Mortal! We are not the ones you waaaaaaant!" Victor slowly walks toward the Shadow, who is floating back trying to speak a bit longer.

"The womaaaaaaan who brought you here, she is our master, she sends us fooooooools, and she must have thought you a weeeeeeak mage so please, let me-"

"Shocking Grasp!" Victor's arm impales the Shadow and in another blinding flash of lightning. After shaking his arm a bit, Victor looks out the window to see the Woman pleading to a small group of adventurers.

"Welp, job's not done yet."

The Lightning Drunk

Original System: D&D Fifth Edition (Player, NPC)

Name: Victor Railem

RaceHalf-Elf

Main ClassSorcerer

Occupation: Mercenary, Loving husband and father of 3.

Archetype: A damage dealing powerhouse who focuses on lightning based magic, but is sturdy enough to handle a close range fights as well.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Homeland: Harlasator, Age 65 AB

Personality: Angry, volatile, perpetually drunk, family man, unsympathetic, murderous, finicky, uneducated, jaded, not surprised easily, experienced, frugal, cheap, disrespectful, uncultured, dangerous.

Appearance: Victor is a ragged looking man with black unkempt hair and stubble, his eye left looks like he is a man who drinks too much and sleeps too little, and hates his life because of it. His right eye is covered by an eye-patch because he has the right eye of a blue dragon, hollowed out black and white in the center with blue scales at the rim.

When casting spells both of his eyes become that of a blue dragon. he wears black clothing underneath an asymmetric blue robe that looks eastern in make with grey storm clouds all around it. His clothing looks rather flowy, not giving a solid idea about his build however his waistline from his black sash of a belt tells that he seems rather thinner than the average man.

His feet have simple wooden sandals. Always hanging from his left hand is a rather large looking ceramic pot with intricate leather thongs connecting it to a strap that Victor holds. The patter from the thongs shows 3 X's that round about the pot. He stands at 5'11" and weighs about 200 lb.

Strengths: Victor is a powerhouse of a mage, most effective when in mid to close range combat. he has taken many feats and ability scores that can make even one of his weakest lightning attacks become fatal to the average man, and his strongest become nightmares for those who stand in his way.

His hardiness is without a doubt his second greatest strength, and despite being trained as a mage he has the fortitude similar to that of a barbarian. Despite being an absolutely terrifying force of nature, Victor also seems to be a very good parent and even though he got into the adventuring game late in life he still manages to make sure that his 3 kids do all their chores and that he provides for them and his wife with his money as a mercenary.

Lastly his adaptability to odd situations is higher than normal. He has lived a very strange life, and because of that nothing surprises him anymore, and almost nothing scares him any more, apart from his wife.

Weaknesses: While Victor is a monster in a fight, he isn't very good at things other than that. He has had many jobs over the years, and none of them have worked out up until now. He is both dumb and unlucky as well. He never got a formal education since he was raised as a lesser being in his homeland, and somehow the most unlikely of occurrences always happen to him.

Because of this he may have no fear, but he also is never careful or never the sort of person to think things through, since his most effective course of action has always been to blast things with lightning. He is also a perpetual drunk due to two things.

1st when he was learning of his magical powers at an early age he unfortunately was also drunk at the time, making him believe that he needed to be drunk to cast magic. 2nd is his pot that he carries, the only gift he received from his father. It is a flask of infinite amounts and types of liquor, meaning that unless he is sleeping, which is rare enough as it is, he is always drunk so that he can have his magic on hand.

This makes him one of the most unstable and uncaring individuals of all time. That ends up coming back to bite him in the ass almost daily.
